The button I was looking for was Overlay Clip, right next to insert clip. At the moment, I'm using a bunk workaround of ctrl + X'ing the clip, ctrl + Z'ing twice (to undo the cut, then the insert to bring the music back) and then pasting the clip back on, after which the pasted clip sits just fine and doesn't interfere with the music track at all. Given this is a music video, I only need the clip's audio to be layered with the background music, not for it to replace it completely. Just to be clear, the music and the clip's audio are both on two separate tracks. Thanks for watching this tutorial, I hope you learned something from it Leave a comment if youd like me to make more tutorials on this software in the futu. However, when I use the "insert clip" button, the part of the music track I have in that part of the timeline is removed (presumably to be replaced by my trimmed clip's audio). Are you doing that in a composite shot or in the editor timeline If in the editor timeline, just right click there where it says video 1, video 2 etc on the left. ![]() Using the trimmer, I set in and out points to mark where I want my clip to start and end. ![]() ![]() I am enjoying my self so far though, learning to solve problems like this makes the process just that much more fun. I'm new to this software, and I'm stumbling around just trying to make a simple music video of my friends.
